Jr. Buyer

Job Type: 9-month contract

Main Responsibilities:
• Buying
• Procure all requirements of assigned commodities (Lab Supplies, Seals, Bearings) including preparing quotes, purchase orders, negotiating pricing, terms and conditions
• Ensure accuracy of data entry into SAP. Negotiate with suppliers to ensure correction of any invoicing errors. Initiate / negotiate resolution of any minor claims from customers / suppliers
• Proactively identify, communicate and implement cost savings opportunities. Report actual savings and cost avoidances to supervision
• Prepare rfq packages, summaries and evaluations as well as handle the administration
• Manage vendor relationships with supplier of products and services
• Expedite purchase orders as requested by customers and management
• Maintain effective business relationships with both customers and suppliers by identifying needs, deadlines and priorities in a proactive manner
• Vacation coverage of other buyers as required
• Analysis
• 2.1 Complete rfq packages to suppliers for competitive rfq process for assigned commodities
• 2.2 Acquire pricing and technical information and other documentation required prior to issuing contracts
• 3. Administration
• 3.1 Investigate and resolve pricing discrepancies on invoices not matching purchase orders
• 3.2 Complete reports for department manager as required
• 3.3 Manage supply contracts in area of responsibility

• College Diploma in Business or related field required
• University Degree specializing in Business, Purchasing or Economics preferred
• Certified or working towards accreditation by Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC)
• as a Certified Professional Purchaser is an asset

Experience / Skills:
• Minimum 2-4 years of Purchasing experience and SAP working knowledge is a must
• 5-10 years of actual buying experience (within a Manufacturing environment) is preferred
• Proficient in using email and Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Lotus Notes would be preferred additional skill
